hello everybody,
Why do I get the feeling every time I start my project that the settings (and more specifically the automations) are no longer the ones I saved the day before?
I read somewhere that audio tracks are more stable on each listen than MIDI tracks; but I'm not going to spend my time going from MIDI to audio every day, it's practically impossible...
Where is my mistake?
Thanks for your assistance
Pierre S.
The settings appear to have changed.

If that was the case, then the "re-enable automation" button would be lit up.Pierre-Stanislas wrote: ↑Sun Feb 08, 2026 4:21 pmWhy do I get the feeling every time I start my project that the settings (and more specifically the automations) are no longer the ones I saved the day before?
Did you read this on a quantum-pixies theory website?Pierre-Stanislas wrote: ↑Sun Feb 08, 2026 4:21 pmI read somewhere that audio tracks are more stable on each listen than MIDI tracks

On the first point, I didn't notice anything or it escaped me.
So, you're telling me my impression is wrong...?
About the second point, it seems my question is ridiculous. I came across this information in a tutorial. It's possible some people are talking nonsense, but I'm not in a position to judge. So it's wrong ?
Between closing and opening the project, can the settings not change on their own?

Sorry for the sarcasm, there was no bad intentions
But yeah, if you read something like "a midi track needs to warm up to get as stable as an audio track", that was indeed complete nonsense.
The only reasons you could hear some differences are:
- analog-like devices designed to introduce various degrees of "randomness" in their processing
- time-based devices like chorus, flanger and similar, if they're modulation isn't sync'ed to the set's tempo.
- generally speaking, any parameter on a device that's here to introduce randomness (or "analogness" as mentioned above).
- a bug

Of course not, what would be the point of saving something otherwise?Pierre-Stanislas wrote: ↑Mon Feb 09, 2026 1:11 pmBetween closing and opening the project, can the settings not change on their own?

Wild guess, but how are you saving your projects? Do the .als files all reside in a singular project folder?

jur, :
I didn't see any sarcasm in your remark. First, because I have a great sense of humor, and second, because I often ask silly questions. In France, we say that the only silly questions are the ones you don't ask...
Cypeace :
relevant question, but no, I have one file per project. However, every time I save (which can happen often when I don't want to lose a setting I like) it multiplies the lines in the folder.
