Question about Push 3 limited controls for Simpler

Recently bought a Push 3 and it is one sexy instrument/controller! I am mostly wanting to use it as a sampler/sequencer and was hoping to severely limit my mousing clicks.

Digging in I am baffled at how Simpler has only 8 controls. Fairly useless!

I am going to try grouping and assigning macros but that is not ideal. If I convert-to-Simpler, for example, it would not load the group.

Any thoughts in general about this design? Or any thoughts on how I can get better functionality with Simpler?
