Controller mode: no Input
12.4.2 (Build: 2026-06-04_a687113d71)
P3 is 'up to date' with latest as of today
Connect P3 to Live
Create Audio track
Plug guitar into Input 1 in P3
Set Preamp Type to High (or Inst.)
No input is registered in the meters
Notes:
- Macbook M1 Pro 2021 / Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)
- I can input guitar in standalone P3 mode no problem
- Live->Settings->Audio->Output/Input Device sees the P3 and output audio just fine
- I have jiggled all the knobs in P3->Settings->Audio
- I have rebooted both boxes (p3 and laptop)
- If I then switch to Standalone mode, I get no audio in or out, I have to reboot the P3

Re: Controller mode: no Input
Is Push set up as your input soundcard in Live's Preferences?

You're right, I think i'm getting too old! That being said I stopped saying "apple" instead of "cmd" a few years ago, so I'm confident I can evolve and adaptfourstones wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 6:29 pmIn the latest version of the software it's called 'Settings' and yes, it is both set as input and output and the output works just fine.
Back to your topic: are you seeing the same issue with the 2nd input?

Re: Controller mode: no Input
Hmm...
Try to reset Live.
If that doesn't help, you could try re-installing Push's previous verison, you can find it here in the download archive.
BTW, i thought you said the issue appeared after updating, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Any idea when it appeared?

Re: Controller mode: no Input
The unit is 2 weeks old - I updated the software as soon as I booted it up the first time. The audio input for controller mode audio interface has never worked for me.
Redoing the preferences on the laptop did not make a difference. I'm not inclined to backtrack on the Push software until I've exhausted everything else - I'm assuming it's easy to restore the latest version from within the Settings->Software page on the P3 if that doesn't pan out.

Yes, you don't have to worry about this.fourstones wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 10:19 pmI'm assuming it's easy to restore the latest version from within the Settings->Software page on the P3 if that doesn't pan out.
If you prefer you could first try installing an older L12 version and see what you get.

Re: Controller mode: no Input
Same behavior with previous build.
Re: Controller mode: no Input
We can rule out hardware issue since it's working fine in standalone.
Sounds stupid but, are you using the provided usb-c cable?
If that's not it, then it's definitely something on the software side. Is that your macOS, or is that Live. If that needs to be tested, you'd need to uninstall every Live-related system files (no need to delete you User Library and Projects) and re-install it. I know you tried installing an earlier version, but if a Push-related corrupted file is being shared/used by Live, no matter which version, then a clean re-install is needed.
But, that could also be a software issue on your Push; so you might have to also revert it back to a previous version, or reset it.
Once the usb cable is out of the equation, I would probably go with the Push reset first.

Re: Controller mode: no Input
- I copied all my projects and user settings from Push onto my laptop
- I deleted Live 12 from my laptop
- I moved/renamed the Library/Preferences/Ableton folder
- I reinstalled Live 12
- I reset the Push3
- re-authorized everything
Still have the same problem - no input seen on the Push3 in controller mode

Nope.
It has rectangular connectors, and ferrite blocks.

no changerectangular connectors, and ferrite blocks.
Re: Controller mode: no Input
Before re-installing, did you remove what's in macintosh HD > User > Library > Application Support > Ableton Live
and macintosh HD > User > Library > Preferences > Ableton ?
If after doing all this you're still seeing the same issue I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. You'd need to reach out to Support.
