Trying to recreate this 2000s house pluck/organ bass sound

Post by Mazi92 » Wed Jun 17, 2026 7:52 am

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to recreate this classic early 2000s house pluck/bass sound that appears in a lot of tracks.

Examples:

Artemas – Fancy (the pluck/bass sound)
Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You Out Of My Head type of sound

The sound has a clean, digital early-2000s house character, but with a short plucky envelope and a strong harmonic attack. It's not really a modern FM bass or an aggressive future house bass. It's more of a clean, musical house pluck that sits somewhere between a bass and a stab.

I'm specifically trying to recreate that type of sound from scratch, not just find something similar. The examples I posted are very close to what I'm after, but most tutorials and presets I've found end up sounding either too much like an FM bass, a donk bass, or a standard organ patch.

I’m trying to recreate it in Ableton with stock plugins , I have Dune 3 and Omnisphere.

Thanks! :)

I’d dig into tutorials explaining how to recreate Korg M1’s organ sound

Hi,
Thanks for the answer. I tried it, but it doesn't really sound like Artemas' "Fancy" bass. What would you suggest doing differently to get closer to that sound?
