How to find your writing muse again?

Been trying to find my songwriting muse again and something about it doesnt come to me as easily like it used to.

IE- yesterday I tried making a chord progression and it sounded kinda cool but it goes nowhere.

Then I went into a future garage drum pattern with a cool 4-8 bar melody that was cool at the start and had no direction to evolve it beyond that.

Not sure what it is but something isnt coming together with my songwriting lately and it often feels a little lame. I like going totally outside the box too sometimes but that doesnt always help me get somewhere either.

One day I wanna make music like Boards of Canada, the next something more garagey like Burial and then tomorrow I wanna try hip-hop like MF Doom. But going top genre focused I think also can make me feel boring too and without some focus can also make me feel like I'm not getting anywhere.

I'm not sure what to do except try to learn more but you can also get into a learning trap of endless learning and I don't think that exactly helps either.

Maybe worth mentioning too but this has been going on for many months. I do get a song together on occasion but its not common lately.

Anyone have any strategies to get through stuff like this and both find that writing muse and making it fun again?

I have this problem from time to time. I wish I had a direct answer, but sometimes you just have to work it out for yourself.
For me, I find sometimes it helps to just work on a project to completion. Even if its not something you would want to put out, it's still good practice to take an idea to a completed track. You can discover new ideas, and learn new techniques or things you might not if you're just stuck in the idea phase. And it can help to kick start new ideas as well.
Also, sometimes its good to step away for a bit and let your mind reset. Take a week or even a month away from trying to make anything. Just listen to music. Don't try to come up with ideas, just let your creative mind reset itself. You might just be over saturating yourself.
But everyone is different, you might need to figure out your own way to 'reset' your creativity.
