problem with scene selector

Post by serbanul » Sun Jul 26, 2026 9:15 am

hi everyone,

im running ableton live lite 12 on macOS with:
arturia mini lab3;
novation launchpad mk2;
numark ns4fx.
my workflow is:
launchpad mk2 controls session view clips;
minilab 3 controls the selected device/instrument.

the problem is that the minilab 3 automaticaly controls the session ring/scene selector(yellow/red outline around the session view).
the large encoder moves the scene collection and i dont want this behavior.
is there any way to completely disable the scene selector/session ring for the minilab3 while keeping the rest of the ableton integration(device control,knobs,transport,etc)?
im not looking to midi map the controller manually,i would like to keep the official ableton integration if possible.

has anyone solved this without editing the remote script?

thanks !!

I think some controllers allow you to bypass native mappings (i.e from their control surface script) by midi mapping a fader/knob/etc.
If that works with the minilab, then you could just map the scene selector button to something random in Live.

Or, you can physically remove/block that button on the minilab...
