Multiple output busses

Post by PookyNMR » Tue Dec 02, 2003 5:47 pm

I would like support for multiple output busses. My audio interface can handle 8 outs (4 stereo pair), I would like to be able to use (and route to) 4 stereo output busses.

Many thanks.

Yes ~ my audio card can handle 2 stereo outs since my laptop has 4 speakers. As it is right now, I can only select 1 stereo out ~ thus only 1 pair of my speakers will work with Live at a time. :(

I'm using Live 4
I have a rme card with 16 outs, and live let's me buss out to all o/p's
either as 8 stereo pairs or 16 mono.

It should be there already

Hrmmmm....I don't have an option that combines all my outs for use on the Master Bus. I wonder if it's driver specific? It's the same for my DX driver & the driver from http://www.asio4all.com/

I think this may be a driver issue. My M-Audio Delta 44, using the ASIO drivers, offers all 4 ins and outs as monos or stereo pairs (note that the manual states that you have to use ASIO to get multiple in/outs).

Check that you've enabled them all in the preferences, though.

I suspect that if you're using ASIO4All, this just acts as a wrapper around the DirectX drivers in some way, in which case you'd get an ASIO driver appearing for each DirectX driver, of which, in my case, there would be two stereo outs and 3 stereo ins...

Get a semi-pro card that supports ASIO - you will be amazed at the sound quality. The cheapest E-mu is only in the 60UKP region and it also gives you a load of DSP effects that you can use through VST plugins - however the second set of outs on this are digital only, so my next recommendation would be the delta 44.

Well, I've never been able to get all 4 of my laptop skeakers to work at the same time. I've tried the DX, Wave, & all the ASIO outputs....still only 2 speakers. If I were able to select 2 master outputs at the same time...that would do the trick.

You can route each track to the individual outs (select Ext Out instead of Master Out, then select the ouput). If you can use a track as a sub-mix bus as well,, if you need too. I use 32 ASIO outs into my Creamware card, where I mix...

so you are trying to mirror the master out to other outputs?

with my m-audio interface i can do this from maudio's mixer then what ever plays through "1-2" play through the other outputs as well

Ahhhhh. Yeah...that's what I want to do. I just wish that Live did it too.
