Routing Midi from another track

If I have a multi timbral instrument on a track and then create another midi track to play the instrument from I get a latency delay. This makes it unplayable! What's going on? This never used to happen, is it something thats occurred in the latest version update?

there are some issues with midi and PDC. It should work with pdc off I think.

With the risk of you saying "RTFM" I can't find where to switch this on or off or mention in the manual? Is it the plugin buffer size in preferences?
