Sad Behringer con...
Yes, I discussed this with some techs in another forum ad apparently you don't need to run the tube hot enough to glow to get a tube sound out of it. So it's just to add the feel of the tube glowing but doesn't affect the sound. Apparently Behringer is not the only manufacturer that does this either. I'm not defending Behringer, just telling you what came up as a result of the discussion.

i used to work with the keyboard tech for inxs, and we opened one of these up a few years back.
99% sure it's the same product we were inspecting, and the problem was not that the tube does not run hot enough to have an impact, but the signal path does not go through it in any shape or form despite what the guy who wrote that article 'feels'.
so the same way that behringer don't like tubes in my signal path, i dont like behringer in mine.
their controllers on the other hand...

The Electribes do the same. I have both electribes and you can see the lights behind the valves. This doesn't mean it's a con. I can clearly hear a difference when the tubes on my electribes are turned up. They add soo much presence and warmth.
Thanks,
Daniel.

The EMX1 and ESX1 I have in my setup crank ... fantastic kit for live performances.
I have alot of fun processing soloed basslines I've written on the 'tribes through the integrated tube using non-conservative settings for superb grit and seething distortion (recording it into live for further manipulation). In general use however I barely nudge the Tube adjust control past the 8'oclock position if one of these tube laden tribes is playing a mulitrack mix.
Cheers

It's something to do with how proper tube gear will run at much higher voltages (ie. more energy to be 'wasted' on heat/light) than this stuff, but that adds all sorts of complication... that's why these things are referred to as 'starved tubes' by some electronics engine ears. It doesn't necessarily mean that the tube is not connected...

i have had many discussions in the past with others engineers regarding the behringer tube technology ,
did you really belive they were using a true tube technology for the price they offer ?
does it really matter if it's a fake tube technology as long as it does the job ?
i think the tube range from behringer compete with the more expensive other manufacturers .their products are really good for the price .no doubt about it .

I own a bluetube dp and it has a very obvious red LCD to accent the tube and it looks pretty cheez. I like the preamp and it has worked well so far but there is no need for this LCD
PS. The sound of the tubes is very obvious in this bit of kit as well. It is not a guessing match as to weather or not it is doing anything.
