You would need the Direct In and Out driver for your 888 available as a download from the digiwebsite. If PT´s is open at the time you wont get access to the I/O driver as Pro Tools will not release the sound to Live. You could run Live out of the built in soundcard in your computer. You havent said which computer, OS u use. It would help.

As for syncing. PT6.1 has built in rewire. I think its available any day now. In the meantime you would need to sync live with MTC via an Iac bus (OMS) on a mac

Live 2.1

Hmm, it looks like me has to make some statement here.

Okay:

1. I do not use Live on stage. All sequencing is done in MS Excel which looks simmilar to Live but offers more colors and variable track width. Since a lot of musicians are using Excel i assume it is a professional tool !
If you have any doubt please vistit http://www.monolake.de/live/ontour0.html
and attend a monolake concert. Afterwards i will show you how to launch income tax spread sheets with MIDI controlers. ;-)

2. Regarding the occurence of strange automation data: Yes, there was a bug which is fixed now. Yes, it still behaves strange. Yes, we are working on a better solution.

Add Coldcut to this list . we absolutely LOVE Live and are using it for composition, DJing, live performance and making radio shows.

my fave feature request: midi soft takeover for controllers, to make effects control with midi knobs like Peavey1600 really work like a hardware mixer.

for all those folks who say they won't buy live until this one little feature is implemented, keep in mind that the more live units sold = more money for ableton = more resources for development of features.

Hi 1296,

if you have installed ProTools so that the Digi driver are installed you should be able to select Direct I/O in Live's audio preferences. But this is not possible when ProTools is running at the same time.

To get in sync using ReWire will just work since ProTools version 6.1.

Alex

is this a joke? Am I that stupid that i googled "ms excel" and found all kinds of spreadsheet information (yes)? Okay for real though, i'd like to think the inventors of Live use it onstage--confirm or deny? monolake?

okay, you are really looking for a serious answer:

I ( monolake ) declare that i am using LIVE since ever, which means even _before_ it was officially released. We at Ableton did actually invent Live because me and former monolake member Gerhard Behles wanted a software which we would love to use by ourselfs !

I hope this answers your questions.

Cheers, Robert / Ableton
