Useful MIDI foot control?

Using a typical sustain type foot switch sends a down signal and then an up signal. How am I to use that for tap tempo in Live when it sends a tap on the down AND the up stroke?

You could have it go through some sort of midi processing first. Possibly MIDI-Ox could do it?
