I want that as an icon inside Live, top right corner would be nice, like the spinning E in IE..

I like them too, but I gotta say, that article was more like a commercial for Live than an actual interview. I am sure they have plenty of production ideas, but they chose to not share any of them.

Love the BR movie, though!

- I
that's because they don't use live for production.
well they might now, but on map and fahrenheit definately not.

if you want to know the production techniques they use, just listen really closely with headphones on.

they obviously have very intimate control over things like gate speed, loop size and position, pan, delay speed and feedback all at the same time, that i bet they are either using something like max/msp, pd, bidule, reaktor or meticulously sequencing everything the old fashioned way.
the creativity/flexibility in their DSP makes me think something like max/msp though.

Wish they posted a wmv of Beat Repeat.
Quicktime is such a pain to use.

they've stated in lots of interviews they pretty much use only protools, reaktor and live instruments to make their music

I love Telefon Tel Aviv, and particularly the track TTV.

Interesting videos. Personally, I thought the BR one would have been a bit better had the audio loop they been mangling been less repetitive, like a vocal or something. The electro drum loop sometimes made it difficult to actually (and accuately) hear the changes Robert was doing.

Still, it's an interesting plug in, definitely my favorite in Live.

do you have links to any interviews?
the ones i have found online before, didn't get very specific about any production, they are my favorite so if you have any links to interviews, please let me know.

all you telefon tel aviv lovers... any of you actually own "map of what is effortless"? there's a full gear list inside. I'm not certain that it lists processors and software, though. (can look when I get home) I definitely love them; that record's incredible. the first one gets a bit too much at times, like they purposefully glitched things out just a bit too much because they could, rather than doing it in a musical way. anyway, i like it a lot, but they used their ideas more creatively and with better reservation (for the sake of the song) on the second record. that's my $.02 :-D

If quicktime is a pain, I don't know how you fare with Live ;)

excerpt:

What do you guys use?

JE - Pro Tools and Reaktor… that’s pretty much it. We use Ableton sometimes for things… when we play live, [and] just using laptops… because it’s awesome. But software wise, we are all Pro Tools.

CC - The thing is, Pro Tools and Reaktor… that’s just two things, but at the same time, everybody uses those two things completely differently.

JE - Yep. It’s how you use it, you know what I’m saying? Like, I can’t use Digital Performer, I think it’s a piece of shit. I think it’s a terrible program. I don’t know how to work it. But I definitely know the Matmos guys are fucking shredding in it. And like, Logic Audio?… I know how it use it… marginally. I like it, I think it’s very powerful. But I think it’s a super pain in the ass, so I don’t mess with it.

Thanks Abes!!

Nice tutorial, it all makes sense now. BR is great for the random twist and tweak method but now I can get to those happy accidents a little faster.
