the two new cards the 'stereo in/out' and the 'echo dj' will be available by the second week of august, the in/out is suppose to be $179-199. the echo dj is going for $229., the drivers for the echo indigo, the one that's out now are going to be upgraded and available at the same time. the new
features of that card will be 8 virtual outs, so that more than one application can be played through the card at the same time. It will still not be able to do pre listening as the physical outs and headphone out will still be monitoring the same signal. you'll have to use the echo dj for that.
the echo in/out card will not be capable of prelistening either.
I was really looking forward to the new cards, they're pcmcia, great driver reputation and all that but i'm pissed off that to use prelistening you'd have to buy two that's right TWO cards if you also want to record, because although the dj card will allow you two seperate stereo outputs it won't allow you to imput anything.
I am currently looking into the digigram vx cards, because they allow prelistening at least that's what i've heard and they used to cost 599 but are now 199 which is a very good deal, on the down side i've also heard that the socket connector on their cards doesn't last long, will be talking to
them tomorrow to get the lowdown, but right now it looks like a digiram vx
pocket for $199 is the deal to beat, you get stereo in/out and digital I think
plus prelistening ability and it's a 24bit card, and no I don't work for digigram, I'm a poor unemployed mofo looking for a job. if you don't need
imputs or prelistening, then without a doubt I'd go for the current echo indigo, because marceo at echo told me that after the driver update in august that the indigos price will go up $30.-$50. ---right now it's only $99.
ok that's my public service announcement for today now fuck off!
