Recording a DJ Set Question? (Can you fast-forward?)

Post by dance » Thu Oct 27, 2005 8:40 pm

Hi,

I will try and explain what I mean, but maybe I am getting confused. To make this easier I will give the example of only using 2 tracks (track a & track b) in the set.

If I record track A but make a mistake with the mix track B and press stop is there any way to "resume" recording from where we left off or do we have to start again. Of course if there is only 2 tracks this isn't much of a problem but if we are trying to do a 2hr mix it becomes a ****.

I may be missing something obvious.

Thanks in adv. :)

of course .. assuming you are doing this in the studio and not live ;) but even then you can easily fix it:

to stop and record from where you want to pick up, simply place your start point on the arrange grid where you want to start.

ie. just click at the point where you want to start recording, hit the record switch, then trigger the clips(s) again from the session grid.

also, you can easily go back to the arrange grid when your done and adjust/extend/modify clips after the fact. so theres no need to even really stop, if you screw up just keep it going and fix it later

this is why it doesnt really matter if you make a mistake in live performance while recording ... you can always go back and alter the clips and envelopes, which are only pointers and representations to the files and parameters anyway
