Mute button for each send knob

Post by mikemc » Fri Jul 15, 2005 5:57 pm

It would be cool if a mute on/off button could be provided in the center of each send knob, MIDI controllable like the other Live parameter controls.

I'm thinking about being able to 'rotor' individual tracks between multiple return tracks by toggling this mute off and on in sync with the beat.

Kludgification

Hi Mike,
Here's a kludge for ya... Instead of an actual mute for each send which could kill and bring back the send to whatever level you had it at, you could control the amount of the send being used by modifying it's dry/wet control, and then "killing" each send by assigning a keyboard key to it (computer key). That toggles it off or full tilt.

So say you wanted a drum track to send 70% to a delay on your return track... instead of having the delay set to 100% wet, set it to 70% wet and use the toggle trick above to mute and unmute the send at that level.

Would that do as a workaround until Robert Henke gets on the case? Or have I mizzundastooood ya?

... although having played with it a bit more I can only get one computer key at a time to act on the sends. Dunno why that is. Anybody?

Thats a good one, mutes for the sends, but then,,, why not a solo too ? I love soloing the return tracks on a hardware board to lidten to the effects alone...

yeah, one thing i want is live to be able to solo isolate tracks. In other words, to make any given track immune to solo.

i do that now with my BCR2000 by setting assigning buttons to the sends, some in toggle mode some in momentary, and being creative with the control data minimum/ maximums (for each BCR button, not the live min/max's).
works great.

also ill have a BCR encoder (top row of them, each one doubles as a push button, which can be a seperate CC, or in this case, the same) be a send, and then PUSHING it, goes to the same send, but in a momentary way, so i can "flash" it to the return(s) on the beat. get a few goin and u can play them like a keybaord, liek playing drums by sending to different returns.

make sense?
