Nerdbag

Post by bogh » Fri Jul 29, 2005 9:42 am

Hey

Does anyone know if the nerdbags that Ableton are selling are big enough to fit a notebook AND an M-Audio Oxygen8 keyboard?
I haven't had much luck trying to find a decent bag that would fit an Oxygen8, so I was hoping that a Nerdbag would be the answer. From what I've read it sounds like the quality is pretty good.

Thanks, Morten

Hi Morten,

the 15" nerdbag is slightly to small in terms of width to hold an oxygen. a bigger one should do the trick, but as the oxygen is such a fat beast the bag is not really suited to hold it and a laptop. i can check it again if i can get my hands on a bigger one, but the first limited series ready to ship were all 15" bags. they're really quality bags, coud'nt resist and even bought one myself.

cheers,
dom

Thanks for the replies 4am and dom.
Yeah, the Oxygen8 is quite fat.
I guess I'll have to keep looking... some of the bags in the other thread look pretty good.
The nerdbag is still looking really good though - maybe I should get one anyway ;)

hi!
check this out: http://www.ultimate-dj-gear.com/index.p ... d&catid=17
it stores my 14" iBook in an extra compartment including an extra bag that comes with the courier bag, my external hard disc, my uc33e controller, my m-audio firewire audiophile, my headphones, cables and other smaller goodies...
and this at a very reasonable price for this highly professional solid bag.
the only downgrade - it should ship with an extra shoulder cause mine tends to hurt after carrying this whola lotta electro trash around for a longer time :-)
cheers

Kensington Saddlebag has LOTS of space for 15" plus trigger finger, drives, cables etc, is compact and has shoulder strap, great handle and rucksack straps that zip away into the back. Been using mine for years now.

How are the corners of the nerdbag? Are they reinforced?

I've heard laptop bags with anything but tough reinforce corners is a bad idea.

Hi Sales Dude,

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by reinforced...
I will try to describe the innards of the nerdbag though.

The laptop compartment is custom fit to the size of the laptop, very snug.
The laptop compartment is actually removable and is held in place by velcro to the inside of the bag.
The compartment covers the laptop on three sides and acts as a buffer to some degree.
The additional velcro and material around those three sides buffer the laptop against the outside world.

The one thing I can say is, that in my personal opinion, the nerdbag is more protectively padded than the kensington saddlebag, which I have also owned. As it should be for the price... ; )

It is a bit difficult to explain in words... hopefully this helps a little.
