Hawtin, Sasha, PVD all macs. Arent they aware that intel is better for performance in testing and stuff? or is it an issue with pc firwwire technolgy or something? my understand the 4 pins are good enough...or when using ableton for djing only it doesnt make a difference?

Actualy Hawtin is using an Alienware. So, that makes him PC. He admits that the powerbook just isn't fast enough.
What is that? A .38?

38, 39, whatever it takes.

I'm not a big name, but I just bought a PC laptop and am selling my powerbook so I can get better performance for DJing.

:)

Good show too.

Not exactly what I was hoping for, but fun none the less.

'cos they're sexy. DJ's are sexy. Vagina's like me just cant resist. And they look clean too. Just like me after my douche routine.

- macs are traditionaly way better at floating point operations (essential for audio/image manipulation) than intels
--> big animation studio's like pixelworks even use rooms full of G5's (up to 60) as renderfarms

- for years macs come standard with low latency soundcards whereas most Pc's don't even offer it now

- macs had windows/mouse gui's when pc's were still using dos/commandpromts --> at that time all the big sequencers already existed in some form ... on mac
--> those apps were only ported to pc's years later , and by than macs had already conquered the studioworld , making it even more interesting to create audio apps for the mac

- can't do logic on a pc

- pc's are ugly

- there are not 2 pc's with the same configuration --> not good for problem solving

- musicians know crap about computers

...

Got a brand new centrino notebook and a 12" PowerBook with 1,5 Ghz.
The Centrino is faster. But working with the powerbook is just "feeling" much better.

I had no major crashs on the centrino but i still think that the powerbook is much more realiable. The new installed pc behaves strange sometimes (stupid errors and temporary slowdowns). Not a big problem in the studio because it doesn't happen very often. But on stage i prefer the slower PowerBook.

I am going to sell the centrino and buy a decent desktop pc for the studio. Or maybe i just wait until the intel macs are out.

Sorry for my bad english. I'm not a native speaker... :?

They have a fetish with Apples. Joke

Seriously Apple is the best integrated platform between hardware and sortware out there. Anyone using a Apple computer can tell you this with confidence.

if powerbooks were using a more powerful processor then a G4. Apple would rule the day in the media world. This is what Apple wants by switching to Intel chips.

Ableton also wants this switch an so do most other companies.
Vote for Pedro.

Kraftwerk uses PC laptops on stage. Is that "big name" enough for you...? :D

(Not with Live though.)
