mixing from one session to another

Post by dsolve » Fri Oct 28, 2005 6:37 pm

i play my sets with full session where each session is a track(i stak sometimes 100 sessions)...i would like to be able to select 2 session at the same time and be able to assign each to a crossfader so i can mix fade the transition beetween una session and the other...this would greatly help my live sets....
even better would be if i could mix from one live set to another..so i can open any proyect i want on the spot and mix it with the one already playing...this way i would be able to have different configurations on each track...i don't know how other people is doing it but for me this is the greatest problem....maybe somebody wanna share a workarround?

i hope is clear what i'm trying o say...thnx

ONE MORE THING...

Post by dsolve » Fri Oct 28, 2005 7:02 pm

I ALREADY TRIED OPENING TO INSTANCES OF LIVE AND ASSIGNING EACH MASTER OUTPUT TO A DIFFERENT OUTPUT ON THE AUDIO CARD...THIS ACTUALLY WORKS BUT I WOULD NEED ANOTHER MIDI CONTROLLER(I CAN'T ASSIGN THE SAMEONE TO BOTH) AND ALSO THE COMPUTER CANNOT ALWAYS KEEP UP WITH BOTH....I GUESS I NEED 2 COMPUTERS IN SYNC?

basically you have to get real clever when going from one song to the next. I've never heard of anyone having a perfect idea for this. most people use two programs(as I do as well) I used to use Live and Wavelab. live would be the song and wavelab would play the inbetween song stuff while the next live track loaded. it worked good and wasn't too cpu hungry. but now I'm on mac so I'm looking for a new way. I might be using live and reason. not totally happy with that idea yet though cause I am not in love with reason yet.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

another idea...

i found another way to do it...it wont really work for me because i use too many loops at the same time....but basically you could divide the scene in half and route each half to a different audio track.. load first group of loops in the first half and delete all the stop buttons...the other group of samples load it next scene in the second half(delete all the stop buttons too)...assing each group to one track output ...then you would have two sub outputs....so assign ech sub to crrosfader a and b respectively......so while you play scene one if you start scene two they both would play toghether but now is possible to crossfade...i may implement it myself but i need to work in reducing the cuantity of loops (i 'm using 16...so i would end up with 32 plus the outputs...too many)
