I've now officially spent more time rebooting my computer and restarting my computer than creating any music at all! The problem is getting silly. Here's my specs:
Sony Vaio (P4, 1GB, XP, 3.4 mhz) - I've called Sony to make sure that it's not an issue on their end and it appears that it's not. When I launch L5, I get either (1) the "serious error" message or (2) the system freezes up in the middle of set. Additionally, closing out of L5 is impossible because when I close out it will say "program not responding."
Anyway, does anybody out there have any advice on how to change any settings so that L5 works better? Also, I have Battery 2 - maybe that's the problem? From the other posts, however, I doubt that's it. I'm surprised that the Abe's cannot respond to what amounts to a serious problem - Live 5 crashes WAY TOO MUCH! It's gotten silly...

dont those vaios have like , sony processes running in the background etc ? and a key or more on the keyboard to carry out special vaio functions ?...its been so long since i disabled & removed these functions from my vaio laptop that my memory is a little hazy. Also , sony are liars...so you cant exactly take their word as solid gold.
go to c: documents and settings : application data : your computer name : ableton : ......and delete whatevers there (after you uninstall live 5.02)
i might have gotten that directory address wrong , but you know what i mean...
disable system restore , (just to see if it makes a difference) ..... turn off/ remove all sony vaio related processes/shortcuts .....make sure you have all the latest xp and sony vaio updates for your machine.....and turn off any anti virus , anti spyware software......then install live 5.02 again...........and see if that makes a difference...........then turn all the shit you turned off back on , except for the sony vaio shit.
if its still fucking up on you after you've tried all that , well at least you tried 'everything' .......and dont ever buy another sony pc as long as you live
