I use my SPD-20 and this small box to the right for EVERYTHING in this video (please don't mind the bad edits!). I'm using clips for MIDI CC functions rather than for actual audio.

I have an SPD-8 that have been collecting dust on a shelf. Much because I haven't gotten it properly mounted. I know nothing of drum hardware...
What is that small box to the right? Midi controller? Drum computer?
Cheers,
Mikael

Mounting is pretty straight forward. The SPD-20 can easily be mounted on a seperate bracket they sell.
The box to my right (in the vid) is a MIDI controller that I use for all switching/toggling of clips plugins etc. I drilled a roland backet to the side and mounted it on cymbal stand. It was originally developed for my other setup but I'm thinking of getting a trigger finger or something I can just hit with a stick to replace all those functions.
I'll make some more videos later this week and post them here:

Cheers!

before getting the spd20, check out the spd-s - it's about 140 euro cheaper, it's just 559, has 6 regular triggers plus 3 rim triggers, which is cool, smaller, less plasticy, and you can load your own samples in there! Big lovely up/down buttons right on the unit, so just load all your samples in impulse samplers or in the unit itself and switch midi channels right from the drum unit - very cool. It also comes highly recommended by some of my drum buddies.
