pt 6.1 with DIGI 002 rack
I'm having a problem getting PT 6.1 and 2.1b3 working together at all. I have a 17" powerbook running OS 10.2.6 with a DIGI 002 rack. I can't get both applications open at the same time, one crashes when the other is open.
What am I doing wrong? What is the order I should open the applications?

Hi kenandrews,
you must be sure that Live 2.1b3 is once started alone to install it's Live's ReWire engine.
If you want to ReWire, PT must be started first. Then you have to select Live as DIGIRack effect. Then you can start Live.
If you want to run both applications at the same time without ReWire, you should be sure that Live doesn't use the Digi 002 rack as it's audio out because this will be a problem because PT is always using the Digi 002.

Alex

Hi folks,
you're right. There is a problem when using ProTools with a Digi002 and then starting Live.
I exchanged the OS X version of Live 2.1.1 with a newer one, but leave the version number like it is.
So please, when you have this problem, go to the download site ( www.ableton.com/download ) and download again Live 2.1.1.
Then see this posting about the handling of the Options.txt
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3870
and use the option "DontUseCoreAudio".
Please quit ProTools and Live before adding these option.
Feel free to ask me if you have question or problem with the handling of the Options.txt file.
We'll try to find a solution that makes this workaround obsolete but it will take some time. So for now, using this option you should be able to use Live as ReWire slave to ProTools with a Digi002.

Alex

Same problem here. Really hoped this would be a problem free operation.
Alex. Sorry but I havent a clue what all that text stuff means and what I am supposed to do. Is there a way to give a clearer description what I must do with the text file.
Its a real shame I cant get PT and Live running in rewire. Really looking forwrad to that
So what I have to do is
1. Download again. (why do i need to download again?)
2. Copy and paste a text file (not sure about this one)
3. Run Live on its own first (I know I did this anyway)
Just correct me if Im wrong
Thanks
Anthony

Hi Anthony,
you have to download again because the version is changed, especially that you have the option to use PT together with a Digi002 and Live on OS X.
We had a beta period of more than two weeks but I get an report about while we're already deeply in the buoding process fo the final version. So the alternative is to wait until we resolved this problem within an update but it will still takes some time.
So all you have to do is to download, you will noticed that the resulting Live app is about 1 day younger as the one you already have.
Then you just have to create a textfile called "Options.txt", put one Line into ("-DontUseCoreAudio") in your Live2.1.1 preferences folder.
