Wanna extract files from your refills? Here's how.....

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... fillviewer

Go to that thread on KVR and look for a post by "Bokster" near the bottom of page 2. Download refillviewer. It works.....yes, really.

Its nice to be able to finally trash those refills that just have one or two sounds I like :) extract wavs/patches/rex and DELETE.

I don’t think a Mac version exists at the moment.

According to one of the threads on refillviewer you can use it in Virtual PC on the Mac.

Not exactly an elegant solution having to install VPC, windows, reason, etc., but I guess if you are really desperate to get into a refill it could be worth the effort.

This app is unstable! I have 2 windows machines which I used this app on and both computers exhibited unusual behavior after installation.

Everything is back to normal on my main music computer thanks to system restore, but I was somewhat nervous for a while.

1. I use Live and Reason together and when I would switch from one to the other the audio would drop out.

2. Live started to play as soon as it would open.

3. When I would go to "turn off computer" it would go automatically to standby, but would not standby, just restart.

4. Something inside my computer, which I never did localize, was making a clicking sound repeatedly.

5. Before Windows could boot it asked which hardware profile I wanted.

All this after using this app once.

Anyone else have this problem or similar?

If it worked for you then rock on but as far as I'm concerned this is an app to be avoided!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that it didn't work to begin with.

Oh well at least all is well now!

so what is the point of using this program? why would you want to extract these files?

no problems here...
and it opens the refill.
Why use this utility? because now i have got all the reason refills sound ready to be used as wavs in other applications (Simpler, Kompakt)
and i can use the rex files in stylus rmx for serious tweaking...
i think it's enough

Because (especially for drums) you could use them in stuff like Impulse. I personally prefer impusle for sequencing drums, and its nice to have one less thing to bring over from reason since i do the majority of my work in live.

Revive!

I have to say: this turns out to be about the lamest incentive ever to stick w/ Reason. I'd been using 2.5 for a long time — I liked it, but never really warmed to not being able to graphically see the samples in the NNXT as you mucked about setting loop points and what not.

So, now I'm thinking of bagging Reason and moving to Sampler or Kontakt only to discover that, while yes there is an app to unpack refills called refillviewer, it's Windows-only and requires Reason 3 to even open.

LAME.

Anyone with any other suggestions? It's awful enough to even think about having to manually edit these keymaps for the 900th time...
