Importing a track..mp3 or from cd. How to Get them matched?

Post by chair » Thu Nov 17, 2005 9:00 am

I have been using Live for about a year or so but I am having some trouble figuring something out. To date I have been using live strictly for production. While i have a fair share of my own tracks and samples to use i would like to start importing other tracks into live and using them to play a live set. I have a few questions that i hope some of you could shed some light on.

1. What is the process needed for say bringing in a cd track or a current mp3 that you want to be able to play in a live set? Do i simply convert the entire song to wav format and that is it or do i need to do something else?

2. Once i have the tracks in live how do i beatmatch them? I tried this by importing a couple of house tracks by converting them into a wave file and then bringing them into the session view and setting the global tempo to 130. When i launched the second one it was just a big train wreck. I am totally lost. Can someoone please share their knowledge. Hope to hear from you. Thanks.

There is a pretty good manual coming with Live, and the lessons that come with it are also ver usefull.

In case these don't help, the forum also has a good search function!
