Browser problem in 2.1 b1

Post by raapie » Wed Jul 16, 2003 9:55 am

hi,

I am having a problem with the Browser in Live 2.1 b1. It seems that when
pre-listening is activated and I am browsing a large folder while playing a
song and start previewing sounds, Live will 'hang' and stop responding, so
the audio is stuttering or some loops are stopped playing. With
pre-listening off everything is fine.

It doesn't matter if I use the internal soundcard or my RME Hammerfall.
Never had this in previous versions. I use a Sony VAIO PCG-Z1SP laptop (it's
a Centrino 1.5 gHz with 512 mb ram).

I also send an email to [email protected], but no reply yet.

Let me know if you need more information from me. Good luck bugfixing,
you're all doing a great job!

I have the very same problem! I'm working with Nuendo2 under rewire.
Working with Live 2.1.1 is almost impossible. (not using the beta)
When pre-listening within the browser the whole playback begins to stutter and finally everything freezes and stops responding. Although if you press the Stop button and wait approx. 0.5-1min the system comes back and everything is back to normal until you pre-listen again.

Steve

even when using Live on it's own it's 'hanging' when using the file browser.

I hope they can solve this problem because I am glad that the rewire2 bug with reason (skipping first beat of loop) is solved now, but a new bug is introduced.

some of these bugs are annoying and I hope Ableton can solve this.

I love the way Propellerhead is testing their software, maybe Ableton can do the same thing because it's the best way to do it. when Propellerhead releases something, they can start working on something new instead of bugfixing. Propellerhead won't give exact dates for new releases. they will only release something when it's rock solid.

I like Live a lot since it's so innovative and flexible.. but I hope bugs are solved.

Good luck Ableton!!!

Browser problem in 2.1

Post by HajoCorsten » Sat Jul 26, 2003 7:48 pm

I get the same stutters and freezings when zooming in and out of the arrangement view via plus/minus keys. I'm glad I kept the 2.0.3 .

I don't have it any more: I first had 2.1 installed as update into the same folder as 2.0.1.
After rolling-back that one - major advantage of WinXP - I installed 2.1 in its own folder and everything's fine, though in this case I had to collect a new response-key from Ableton...

I hadn't any problem like just you said? the live 2.01 works well on my environment so I think it should be found some hardware consistent problem on your system.
I think you can try to using the preview version instead the current one .\

Just a little advise

migaler,

2.01 should work indeed, but 2.1 or higher has this file browsing problem. confirmed by Ableton. they are working on a fix.

Any timeframe fro a fix?
The program is almost unusable for me!

hi,

I went back to 2.03 which works okay for the moment. The rewire2-bug (skippinf first note of the loop) is annoying but for the rest it works nicely.

I am sure Ableton takes these kind of problems seriously. Hopefully they will release a very clean release someday.
