assigning MIDI or keystroke to 'select track area'

For lack of a better way to put it, I'm trying to assign a MIDI note or keystroke (either one will work) to focus on the session area. I believe I should be able to do it and here's why. If the focus is on another area, such as the effects area, which would be outlined, when I click on the 'track title bar,' it of course selects the entire track and the focus switches to the entire session area, which is then outlined. However, when I assign a MIDI note or keystroke to the 'track title bar,' it will select the entire track, but the focus will NOT change from the effects area, or wherever it is currently focused on. I could really use this command, and it doesn't matter which track is selected for my purposes as long as the session area is focused on. Any thoughts?

focus seems to be caused only by the mouse (i think?). is there some software that would allow midi to emulate "send mouse to [screen location] and then click"? googling as we speak...

alt + arrow keys toggles focus between the windows.
u can use bomes translater, www.bome.com, to translate midi to that key combo.

may not be effecient, but it may. i use bomes for other stuff just not that key combo.

Thanks, yes alt then arrow key does the trick. I am actually already using Bome's MIDI translator (http://www.bome.com)

What I'm actually trying to do is use my MIDI foot controller to move up and down the tracks (among other things), and if the focus wasn't on the session area, I was screwed. So I had two pedals send to Bomes, one outputting an up arrow and the other pedal outputting a down arrow. To fix the focus problem I added alt (up right) - inotherwords press up arrow and right arrow while holding alt. This is before each regular up and down arrow respectively.

This way whether the focus is on workspace (to the left) or effects area (at the bottom), it always goes to the session area. It works seamlessly: the foot pedals send up or down messages in an instant. That's peace of mind.

Now, why am I moving up and down the session area? So I can use the rest of the foot pedals (there are ten plus two expression pedals on the FCB1010) to start/stop live loop recording. I'll have about 4 or 5 maybe more pedals each assigned to a track/softsynth, all armed. Now I can easily move down to record a fresh loop on any given track, and move back up to an existing one.
