i guess you always expect a change from artists, just to keep you on your toes. but then BOC are quite satisfying when they release stuff even if it doesnt change so much. its just this time so much emphasis was on the inclusion of guitars, so i was hoping for something that really deconstructed the instrument. the new LP is kind of pads+slow beats+guitars that compliment the pads.
also, this album is very slow, alomost lethargic, so the listening experience kind of dozes off a bit.

excuse my lack of electronic music label insight, but arent they a warped/ninja tunes group? i think the label has been trying to make a push towards band/guitar music to keep their sales up with the current shift of the overall market towards rock.

Yep, it's definitely more of the same (regardless of the guitars), but personally I'm really glad they're not changing their sound. There's only one band in the world that sounds like that (that I know of), so I really hope they don't stop doing it.

for the life of me I can't think of another electronic act that has really stood out as unique to me since BOC. Before them it would be Amon Tobin, Aphex, and the Orb.
BOC just have something that I do not necessarill has to dramtically change to be amazing. They not F'ing Madonna. They are just great.

Thanks for the heads up, I was wondering if an album would come out worth the trouble of buying, ever again.

Music sometimes does not always fit into present time or moods.
What you may not like now, you may like tomorrow?
I like it when artists change or they are not really artists in my view.

ok I agree with everything being said here accept for the "I like it when an artist changes or they aren't really an artist" thats just crazy in my opinion. I think pure art and or musical art comes from your soul. artists can change but it's not required.

i feel with this comment. back when i was a wee lad, i was sent the first copy of System Of A Down's debut album in Australia for review. At the time, I dismissed it as some weird circus punk band who didnt really get what rock was about, but 2 months later i gave the cd another spin and it blew me away!

Hey suburban bather,
BOC were front cover artistes in last month's Wire mag. They mention some details about how they worked on the geetars, but not loads. If you can bear the pretentious w**k which constitutes the rest of the mag it's not a bad interview with them.

actually most of the guitars sound like guitars and due to the fact that this is the first work they've done which has guitar at the forefront i would probably argue that they've 'moved forward' and 'grown as artists'

Thanx for the heads up.

I also agree with Cluadek and Sweetjesus. I have sold a lot of cd's only to find myself buying them back a few years later. I don't like it when an artists keeps repeating themselves, unless they are improving or finetuning their message or vision.

I can't stop listening to this album. I think it is brilliant. Much better than Geogaddi. Different than MHTRTC.
