Help with Audiophile and Live

Post by WildK9 » Tue Jul 29, 2003 6:57 pm

Hi, I'm new to Live. I am a longtime musician and have limited experience with recording. I have NO experience with digital recording. Last time I recorded anything the only thing digital were clocks :D

So this is my set up. I have a G3 iBook 800mhz with 512Mb of RAM running OSX Jaguar. I have 20 years computer experience. I have recently purchased an M-Audio Audiophile USB. It came with Live 1.5.3 Delta. My first question: Is there a more recent demo or delta version?

There are 3 members in our band and we wish to record to computer for personal purposes only. Quality is not a priority. We have a capable sound board and engineer. I have downloaded all the drivers and have hooked up the audiophile an it is recognized by the iBook.

Problem: When I turn everything on and listen on my headphones to the Delta Demo Sounds I can hear OK. When I try to play the Delta Demo Track 1 I get nothing. I am hitting the space bar according to the User Manual. I have set the input and output to the audiophile and it does show up.

I want to record to a track but haven't been able to do that either. I read through the quick start and most of the manual. What in the blue blazes am I doing wrong. Help please. I want to upgrade for when we get to real recording but I won't do so if the program and the card are not compatible. Is Live OK for recording or is there something else out there that would be better suited.
Thanks

wildk9!! I hope you check this forum because I've had the exact same experience with AudioPhile USB and Live Delta that you have --> valid device recognition but no sound. What did you do???

Thanks for your reply!!

Sound

I just recently purchased the samed thing and was also having problems getting sound until yesterday. I hope I can explain this. In Track 1 I switched the input to Live In. Then I clicked on the bottom microphone til it turned red. At this point you should see your level going up and down next to that button. Then I clicked at on of the circles at the top and it starts recording. To hear it back I change the live in to master out and hit play.

Unfortunately it records but is not usable. It came out garbled or with feedback you might say. This is my next problem.
