Can't get any input from my Edirol UA-5

Post by roobee66 » Sat Nov 19, 2005 10:03 pm

Hello all:

I should say it's my first time using it (Demo version) and I need to get this going before I actually decide to buy the software.

Anyway, I have the Live 5 software. I have connected my Edirol UA-5 with my Notebook via USB. I have gone thru the tutorial for setting the Input-Output environment. I can get the test tone to arrive at the Edirol UA-5 device, which I have also connected to my stereo. It does play the test tone.
But when I try to get some input in Live 5, the level meter in the "1 Audio" doesn't show any activity although I have a CD player connected to my Edirol UA-5 and it is playing a CD.

These are the settings I have used:

@ Edirol UA-5:
"Sample Rate" switch to PLAY (ADV ONLY section) and have the switch at the back of the box set to ADV ON.
The REC SOURCE is set to ANALOG (as the CD player comes in thru the two CINCH plugs).
The OUTPUT dial is set to approx 3/4. Full nozzle doesn't change behavior.
VOL INPUT dial on the back is set to approx. 1/2. Full nozzle doesn't change behavior.

@ Live 5:
The Audio settings are as follows:
Device Type: ASIO
Audio Device: Edirol UA-5
Channel config: Input 1&2 (mono) ON, 1/2 (stereo) ON, Output: same

When I now go into the "Audio from" part of the Audio track settings (I-O), I can pick any selection (e.g. Ext In, Resampling, etc.), but that doesn't make any difference. The level meter doesn't show any activity and I am not getting any signals from the Edirol UA-5.

How can I get input? Anyone out there knowing help?

Would really appreciate it. If there is any more informations about my settings necessary, pls let me know.

Best regards
Ableton Live5, Edirol UA-5 (driver: Roland dd. 10 Sep 2003, v 2.0.0.0), Notebook w/ Intel Pentium centrino, Windows XP Pro (2002) with SP2
