Moving loop marker moves the time marker....

Post by forgie » Sat Nov 19, 2005 10:17 pm

When you're in the audio clip edit (is that what it's called? not sure... I'm pretty new to live) and you're playing a 'loop', moving the loop marker with the mouse causes the audio output to stutter. The audio 'location' is obviously referenced to the markers, so when you move them, the output intermittently moves with them. This is really annoying, since you can't even move one side of the loop marker without playback skipping around - it usually stays within the same distance of the 'loop end' marker, so if you say add another two bars into your loop, then playback will skip forward two bars in that clip - meaning that it doesn't sound catastrophic, but it's still damn annoying.

This should be relatively easy to fix, I would've thought. Okay, not necessarily that easy, but I bought this program on the reputation of being able to do 'absolutely anything' during playback, without negative consequences..... Live 5 is really good, it's just got these few annoyances which make it not quite as slick as I'd hoped. I guess most people wouldn't be moving loop markers during playback, but I like to be able to do whatever the hell I want without causing unwanted side-effects.

I'd love it if an Ableton person could post their thoughts on this particular issue some time. Thanks.
