sample analysis again ?

i have some samples (6 mins mp3) already warped and saved... but sometimes when i import them to a project, it makes a sample analysis again.. (warp markers r still there though)

i was just wondering why, and if this is a normal behave..

im using live 5.02

yes..i think it is a problem with mp3 but i didn't try with Wav yet...i hope this problem will be resolved soon..it's a big problem...for example i have problems with the first marker if i don't set it immediately after the initial silence at the beginning of the track but instead if i want to set the 1.1.1 more forward to the right

The reason why sometimes it creates "analysis files" once you've already warped and saved the track is because what it is really doing is decoding the mp3 file to a wav. Sometimes it does not do this because it already found the decoded wav file in your decoding cache, but every so often (when your decoding cache folder gets too much in it) it will delete everything, and then every mp3 file you load needs to decode again. You can change the size limit of your decoding cache in the preferences, so that this happens less often, but it will take up more of your disk space.

To reply to the comment that sometimes the warp markers are off, I too have experienced this, and the best quick fix is to delete the decoded wav file in your cache folder and re-decode the mp3. This usually results in a good warp marker setting (I noticed this problem most frequently occurs when the first marker is very close to the beginning of the file).

that sounds logical... but in my case, this also happens if i switch from live to some other program, and then switch back to live...
this also make me wonder: why i was using mp3s ? as this will be taking more space in my hard disk (mp3 + the decoded wav). i think i´ll start rendering all my warped mp3....

The folder is specified in your preferences, not sure which tab, but it is at the bottom of the screen, something like "location of decoding cache folder" or similar...

i just noticed that my cache wasnt limited at all... and this still happens... i also noticed that this happens right after i save self contained too..

Hi,

The cache, as it's named, just keeps decoded files temporarely. It empties itself from time to time and deletes "unused" files. That's the principle: you drop a mp3, it decodes in the cache, your warp it, the warp data is saved alongside the mp3. Next time you drop the mp3, it will still need to be decoded in wav in the cache, but your warp data should be there.
Then, I believe that if you save as self contained, the decoded wwav will be saved in your song's sounds folder, which needs once again to redraw the waveform. Could be wrong but that's how I understand it.

you can also try to pre-analyze a specific folder with samples..

right click at the folder in the browser
