TINY midi controllers
Hello y'all
I'm looking for a very portable, tiny, usb fader/controller, to compliment planned purchase of 12ich powerbook, for those little gigs where you aint got much room to play in. (alot smaller than my UC33e or my doepfer) Ideally something (cheap), with a few faders and a few knobs/buttons..
Any suggestions?
Cheers

Yes these are nearly perfect.. but still perhaps a bit too bulky.. i was hoping for something kind of (snigger) iPod sized.. or perhaps no bigger than a CD..

Re: TINY midi controllers
Wouldn't it be hard to fit a few faders (of any use or quality) to something you can fit in your pocket? I'd suggest you build your own (www.ucapps.de) - then you can go for the exact amount and quality of the knobs and faders you need. And also put it in a custom case - that might even fit in your pocket.nobbystylus wrote:Hello y'all

Faderfox controllers are really cool. I got the lx1.
They are built like tanks. And the included battery's last over 8 months.
And it has a knob to navigate trough the clips in session view.
Totally worth their money.
Although they are getting updated. And the new modules will probably be sick.
I already know for sure i'm going to another one to add to my setup.
But thats for somewhere in the beginning of 2006.
Im sorry, but faderfoxes definitely aren't "tiny"... They're great and all, but are they jacket-pocket material? No.
Now, I'd recommend a pocket dial:

OR, if you want something uber-portable: The midiTron!

-just screw in the controls you want.

mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
This is more than what you are looking for, but for the number of controls, it sure is tiny!

Beware of the JL Cooper unit...I had one for a few weeks, until I realized that if you press buttons on the same column simultaneously, the unit wigs out and sends strange MIDI messages.
I even called JL Cooper about it, and they tested it themselves. They said that the unit just wasn't designed to have multiple buttons in a row pressed at the same time. Admittedly it was designed as a mixer controller, but that still seemed silly to me.

Tranzport?

not sure this would do the trick for you. It's definitely small, but it isn't bristling with knobs and sliders. However, everyone I know who has one is raving......

I'm playing with a wireless dancemat that I'd let the crowd jump on to trigger audio/video/lighting clips. It includes a PS>USB converter that would probably work on this thing:
