how to use 2 bcr2000 to control live 5

Post by nutownproject » Sat Nov 26, 2005 1:32 am

hello there, i used the bcr2000 and was quite happy with it on a controller only basis, never went to far in programing it since it does the job i need perfectly but now i bought another unit believing i would just hook it up as they say on a usb4 and S3 mode with midi wires and so. live receives the signal from both but since i use it on a really easy way i m having problem when it comes to the midi map. i can have the top rotary knobs assign from 1/1 to 1/16 but then all the others once are the same values, so if i map any others knobs it will do the same job on each units[bcr2000]
i thought i could have extended to 16 physical chanels... i just don t get it.
anyhelp would be higly appreciate it. mostly i have a show tomorow and wanted to use both.
thanks jaycee

does the setting on encoder 5 in system mode help or is that only for sending sysex along a chain of bcr's?

you have them both using midi channel 1. Set one to midi channel 2 and they wont conflict. Then you will have 1/1, 2/1 and 1/16 and 2/16 for example (or 16/1, 16/2 i cant remember which way its displayed :) )

but if you say each knob is showing up as 1/1, 2/1 etc..., they are both using the same midi channel (Channel 1). Also, in the manual, it gives you step by step instructions on how to use 2 at once. I'm assuming you followed that already no?

yeap, i had problem like that, my 7th button and 9th knob were in conflict due the same ch, when i turned knob all to the left, the button shut down, as i turned it to the right it switches on, so i changed channel of the button to 16, and there were no conflict anymore...

thats what 5th encoder does in edit mode

but if you go into system mode (store+edit) 5th encoder will display

"1d 1" through "1d 7"

don't know if this is only so you can target the right device sending sysex messages..
but it is related to using multiple bcx's
