M-audio trigger finger activating beatrepeat

Post by dunic » Sun Nov 27, 2005 10:40 pm

Hi all,

If i press the midi assign key right above in the ableton live5 screen, i assign keys of my midikeyboard to the betrepeater. I assign the key to the repeat button, and it works, if i press a key it goes on, if i press it again it goes off.

But i want it like this way:

Whenever i press a key of my midikeyboard, i can only choose a midi note, and do not have the parameters 'absolute, absolute sogned bits' etc. So i was wondering if the trigger finger pads DO have that option, because i want the beatrepeat to be activated only during the time i press and hold the pad!

Is this possible?

Thanks! :)

This is possible.
Instead of using the notes from the TF use the CCs coming from the pad. When they're 64 or above they'll turn on the effect. If you want the triggering really slick you can change the min and max value from 0-127 to 63-127 in Enigma.

Hello, TF pads can´t send note messages in gate mode, have a read here:

You have to set them up to send only cc message and press the pad over a velocity of 64.

Thanks for the reply's.

Serotoninsteve, that topic doesn't make much sense to me since im not a midi expert. I can't test the TF anywhere so im depending the purchase of a TF from this board.

The manual states that it can send note on and off messages, but i guess you cant use that in a 'gate' type of way? (kaoss pad style)

Alvast bedankt ;)

But then again,

If lets say, a pad goes from 0 to 100, can you program it that as soon as you reach lets say, 80-100, it goes on, and as soon as it gets below that, it goes off?

Don't use the notes from the pads... use the continuous controller values form the pads. I do this all the time, it's possible, it's easy.
