jazzy, groovy, unstable funk.
..
the Rhodes is for the soul, the beats are just for booty shake
hey lightshy, I love the horns in this tune and I like the idea of it but the beat really needs more feel, it's way too straight.. The sound of the drums is really nice, it's just the feel that needs to be fixed.. more dynamics and more groove please!

I was BTW commenting on the original poster's tune, not urs, that one I'm downloading right now, don't even know if it's got Rhodes or not
that's a hell of a funky Motha ! we've been getting down on it all night .
I played it to some exec looking for a new theme for a new edition of "soul train" and he was really impressed by this.
It is pure funk, a bit unstable yes, but funk nevertheless. And it sure is a floor filler. Feel the groove, man ! There's an afro beat there aswell I think.
The JB's, meters, Sly, and all those light weight funksters can all go back learning their trade !
I love the Marsalis soprano sax licks too, did you play them yourself ?
One minor detail though, the keyboards are not quantized enough, they seem a bit sloppy compared to the groove machine pulsing behind. Maybe a 4th quantize could help ?
