at least the ones in america had a penalty chosen for the crime.
in the case of of Nguyen, it was a mandatory death sentence... no consideration to a punishment other than that.
and in USA at least this doesnt happen:

I feel you on this...
It's really sad that a country perform the death penelty for a fucking drug offensive. "The heroin he was transporting could have destroyed the lives of thousands" ...whatever. So they will go and place a noose around this young man's neck for the sake of Singapore law? Sickening.
The government also had the balls to claim that everyone should know about out their strict laws on drug trafficing and possession. Yeah right, people desperate enough to smuggle drugs really study your third world country's legalites.
Truly sickening... Fuck Off Singapore...

in order to maintain correct facts and stuff, i will say that as you land into any airport in the world they say things like "Welcome to Taiwan, have a beautiful stay and please beweare that trafficking drugs is a crime here which can be punished by death"..
[quote=""Welcome to Taiwan, have a beautiful stay and please beweare that trafficking drugs is a crime here which can be punished by death"..[/quote]
Really? I didn't know that. I've only been to Europe (Spain & Croatia) so I never heard anything like that.
It's just a really sad story. I remember seeing a movie a few years back about that system with Joaquin Phoenix and Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche that suprisingly was pretty good...

That's because they don't have stupid laws which promote hatred and violence in most of Europe.
While the world is being sane, that poor kid's gonna get murdered in about 30 minutes.

I really hope the trade unions in Australia boycott products from Singapore especially considering our government doesn't have the balls to do so.Moody wrote:Death for a victimless crime. What a waste of space on our planet.
I've been to Singapore a few times and I know many Singaporeans and can comfortably say that money is more valued than life in Singapore. Hence hit them where it hurts.
Personally I won't be going to Singapore anymore, nor will I ever fly Singapore airlines.
I definetly will not be making plans to visit that place either. Sad day in the evolution of our species.sweetjesus wrote:I really hope the trade unions in Australia boycott products from Singapore especially considering our government doesn't have the balls to do so.Moody wrote:Death for a victimless crime. Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

Apparently the unions aren't going to refuel or handle bagage for them.
Sad thing is Singapore is the future model, it's a perfect city, a perfect mix
of money and control. Everything is controlled by the state, and boy do
they love it. No free thinking, no crime, no complaints..... Just lots of dead
people.

The punishment doesn't suit the crime but everyone knows how it is in Singapore. They have some of the strictest laws in the world. Gum is sold in a pharmacy! This guy knew the risk and took the chance. The only person i feel for is the twin brother who has to live with the shame of all this. I hope he's changed for the better.
Every situation(1) should be confronted with its opposite(2) to come to a better situation(3).
