I, we Asians might be oversensitive when it comes to White man telling> dictating us what is right , what is wrong, it is over 300 years of colonialism that is behind it. The drug trafficing issue is megasensitive due to history again, read the post about opium war.
Regarding the rapists and pedofiles I meant medical supervison but in full isolation from the society- special jail or mental hospital, no paroles, supervisions, since it hardly works.
The controversial aspect of the death penalty is that it works, looks like the death is the only thing people are really scared off.
As I mentioned before I dont believe it is necessery, effective, in my home state drug problem is practically non existing and opium and ganja are freely available ( though I wont tell where).
I gave up smoking and drinking when I hit 18, cut my long hair soon after it became legal in my school. I dont think am exception, if you are teenager anything against parents, customs, system is great- my Malai girlfriend in Singapore loved to smoke joints in "eating places"-the open air markets/restaurants.( I never even wanted to know what would happen in case police would get her, even though I didnt smoke maybe they would hang me too, or beat my ass)
That whole issue was not about drugs, death penalty but the attitude US/European world toward the "ethnic", the natives or whatever you call us

They don't tell you that because it's not true. The age of consent in Singapore is 16, the same as (for example) Australia. Break this law in Singapore and you'll be caned and jailed.
