Autowarp long samples

I just downloaded the Okoboji remix package.
Good. But why is ARP PAD autowarped and looped and COLONISTS LEAD are not?
The latter is longer.

Even if it's longer (in seconds), if it's slower, then it may be shorter (in beats).
The rule is that it's autowarped if its longer than 16 bars.
Turn the song tempo up, this increases the likelyhood
for a sample to be autowarped. If that doesn't help, let me
know and I'll have a look at your samples.

Ralf -
The longer one is way over 16 bars.
The visual difference between the two is that the first is analyzed at tempo 130 and the latter (unlooped) at 129.99.
The shorter and looped happens to be autowarped to exactly 16 bars.
Set tempo is 120.
My options are:
Loop/Warp short samples - Auto
Auto-Warp Long Samples - On

Hi Conny,

thanks for sending the set. As I see, everything works as expected
(I'm happy about that), let me explain what's going on:

The ARP PAD is short, yes, and its *not* autowarped. Its auto-looped,
i.e. set to a loop length with a power of 2 (16 bars in this case)
giving a tempo as near to the song tempo as possible, 130 in this case.
This auto-looping is a function of Live 4 and earlier.
Auto-warping (a Live 5 function) never turns loop on.

COLONIST LEAD is longer, and it gets a single marker at the start,
with a tempo of 129.99 (more nines possibly not shown). If you turn
metronome on, you see, it matches quite nicely. That's autowarping!!!
I mean, where else could live get the tempo info from? It finds out that
the tempo is straight, so it sets only a single marker. As often happens,
the downbeat detection is not perfect, try to set Start to 1 2 1
(instead of 1 1 1), now it's very good, I'd say.

Now about ARP PAD, once more. If you turn the metronome on, you see,
the detected 16 bars of tempo 130 are wrong. At the beginning there is
some loose relation between ARP and Metronome, but then it gets
worse and worse. ARP PAD needs some autowarping, I'd say.

If you do context-menu->autowarp from here at the first "1" marker you
see - it doesn't work. Let us help the autowarper:

Zoom into the beginning of the waveform so that you see the
sample time 0:00:500. Drag the "1" marker to this time.
Now, again, do context-menu->warp from here on the "1" marker.
This gives you a usable tempo.

Then, to make it a usable loop again, do the following: drag loop
start and end to cover the whole sample.
Set start to -1 4 1, YMMV about where the downbeat is.
Now the loop length is 16 0 0+ (i.e. last 0 is red). Set it to be exactly
16 0 0 (i.e. a bit shorter than the sample), using the keybord perhaps.
In the end, it's not perfect, maybe, but much better than just autolooped.
