DJing with Live 5
I have been doing alot of mixing tracks on 5 and want to start doing live gigs. All I have is a 1.5 GHz G4 laptop and an M-Audio Trigger Finger. What other gear would I need for gigs? Do I need to get another sound card?
Also, I find that when I have 3 or 4 clips playing at once, my computer usage starts to hit 40-50% and I get alot of distortion. I can't even use the Complex mode on anything without it sounding completely chewed up. Is there some sort of setting that I might not have right, or any suggestions you may have to fix this?
Any help would be great!!! Thanks

Re: DJing with Live 5
go into your preferences panel and see if adjusting the buffer/latency will help.espytwelve wrote:I have been doing alot of mixing tracks on 5 and want to start doing live gigs. Like SweetJesus said, take a look at your buffer size. Larger buffers will cut down on sound issues but will give you higher latency which may or may not be an issue for you. Getting a higher end sound card will allow you to have lower buffer sizes and lower latency. It's worth the investment. If you are going to be using Live for DJing, take a look at the Echo Indigo DJ card. You can find them for around $150. I've been very happy with mine but I have a PC. Any Mac users with feelings on this card?
If you're interested, there's a new site that is geared towards to DJing on Ableton. The site is:
