Is Live 5 less CPU efficient than Live 3??

Post by Andrew K » Thu Dec 08, 2005 5:38 am

Hi,

I currently use Live 3 in rewire mode as a slave to Nuendo 3 on a Dual Opteron. Since I use so many VSTIs and plugins in Nuendo, CPU is an issue and I'm running right on the edge with a lot of my projects using Live 3.

My question is: would Live 5 give me more of a CPU hit than Live 3 .... even if I don't use Live 5's midi capabilities?

Or, is Live 5 more Dual procssor effient than Live 3?

Any seggestions would be appreciated.

live 5 is less cpu efficient I think most people will tell you

also, live 5 does not support dual processors
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

Thanks John,

I have to say I'm really surprised Live 5 does not support Dual Processors.

Nuendo does do the time stretch and has similar algos and granular synthesis to Live... so I can just omit Live if I needed to ... but I just like auditioning loops in Live sooooo much.

Anyway, thanks for the heads-up.
