a few months after buying the Emax, a friend introduced me to jeff mills and autechre (the music that is), which i both liked. but it wasn't until later that year, when working at the 10daysofTechno festival, that i heard autechre play live (nothing much to see, even in those days a pitch black room) and met them in person (granted, only because they needed weed), that i got really hooked.
then i also realised why, in my childhood, i've also loved stuff like men without hats, east17, hell, even the petshop boys... i like electronic sounds. the more unnatural the better.
guitar in the closet (nowadays back in all it's glory though), and drum machine, atari and small mixer in the room. synths and fx, and a big soundcraft mixer, and more synths and drum machines,...
then came the G3 and the first creamware card and liked it so much, not having to write settings down, changing presets manually, patching things, crawling behind the racks and mixer...
sold practically all, except the fx units, a korgMS10 and the nordlead2, and yeah i still have that very first Emax, mainly because no one wanted it... a full 2MB worth of sampling wonder. bought a small mixer, decent monitors and software instead.
Love the powerbook now (not that much with Live, i must say).
