Post by eL bOZ » Fri Dec 09, 2005 5:19 pm

Hi sorry if i re open an over discussed thread but i've just bought a firebox presonus and i'm trying to setting up to pre listen the tracks i mix

so here is what i set :
in preference display i choose the presonus device for audio input and output
after i enabled out 1&2 and 3&4 in output setting

in the clip view on the master track i choose cue (clicking on solo button)
and above i choose cue out 3&4 and master out 1&2

but i can only hear what is on the master (same tracks on the headphones and the master)
could you help me ? thanks

You need to use the firebox mixer utility to route 3/4 to the headphone port.

Are you using a Mac or a PC?

did you load the mixer software that comes with the f-box? Loading is different with a Mac and and PC. I think that you need to assign the headphone out (that is on the fornt of the box) in the mixing software. on the back do you get different sounds out from 1&2 as compared to 3&4?

I'm helping a friend (who uses macs) pick out a firewire soundcard. I think the Firebox is gonna be the one I reccomend to him. it is a little more than he needs right now but not too many ins and outs that the price would be worth it for him and he can expand in the future. I wish E-mu mad a mac compatable card and/or a firewire card.

Do you think the firebox is better or on the same level as the FCA-202?

That looks like a spiffy card. I haven't used one, so I couldn't say how it compares to other fw interfaces on the market. However, I can say that you should not buy a USB card; you will regret it. Their performance is always sub-par, and the manufacturing quality generally is as well.

downside is that all inputs are on front--looks a little silly i guess
