Headphones coming out left speaker only

Post by Gtrance » Thu Dec 08, 2005 6:45 pm

Hello

My headphones are connected to a single output of my soundcard and sound only comes out of left side only. I asked about this on the forum a couple of weeks ago and was told that this is because my outputs are mono. I was advised to get either a headphone amp or an adapter so my headphones can be plugged into two outputs rather than one.

I dont really wanna get a headphone amp if i can help it due to having little money. So ive been looking for this adaptor thing but cant find one anywhere. The main problem could be that I dont even know the proper name for it.

Can anyone please tell me what its actually called and/or where I can find one??

Much obliged as always

before you buy anything new, please check if the headphones aren't broken...

if the headphones work properly with other audio devices (as Machinate said, make sure theyre not broken) you will need something like this:

that wouldn't work. I assume there is 2 mono outputs on the soundcard so you need a stero jack to 2 mono jack converter. 6.4mm large style. 3.5mm small stylee

only problem is its probable not going to be very loud. you'll probly need the headphone amplifier to get decent sound.

Again, check the headphones on another system just to make sure.

good 1,

except if you're skint on channels then a mono to stereo plug is still the way to go, but ideally ... what dj precious said right beyond getting a headphone amp...

Cheers for all the advice. The headphones are definately working. The adapter thing off that link seems to be just what I need but its am american site and Ilive in England. Postage is far too much. Does anyone know a british based company that sells them. Ive looked at every website I can find and i cant believe that no one sells them
