I have been having this problem since Live 4, but thought it must have been my system causing it. When working on a treack in arrange mode (to build structures and details) there is very frequent pops, crackles, and glitches especially at the more active parts of the arrangement. I have tried freezing tracks, increasing buffer size, rendering midi tracks, etc....which helpes a little, but there is still crackling and glitching at CPU%=50-60.
I thought it was my system, but I got a new laptop recently with a freshly installed XP, and bought a new interface (Firebox) but the crackles persist.
Do you think this is a problem within Live 5.0.2 or is this a problem in my setup?

A 2ghz Centrino should fly through it (20-30% CPU). If its any higher, you might want to check your Power Saving Settings on your laptop.

The CPU meter jumps around constantly from 40-75% while these crackles are occuring. The current project i'm on has 15 tracks, all vst's frozen.
I checked my Power Options in the Control Panel and I have everything set to never go off when the laptop is plugged-in. My machine scored at 27% on the performance test when I tested it.
Session view works ok (well, it has it's own problems), the problem only seems to be in arrangement mode. I also have all audio clips loaded into RAM, which is only about 5 tracks of the 15. But these crackles and pops happen every time I try to write a track in arrangement mode...it's not dependant on any one project.

I personally dont use the arrangement to an extent where i experience problems. Though i do get a few copy/paste issues with it.
