REASON FCKN SUCKS theres a better prog
The engine is absolute CRAP by any standard and your locked into thier ugghhhh... plugs whatever. If you want better results with the same type of "rewire" plug/daw wanna-be prog get 'Orion' at least for gods sakes. It's just like "reason" exept you can use DX/Vst plugs and Vsti's until your head blows off with a better engine to boot and it rewires like a mofo. Shit, if I was a new programmer I'd get neither and just hammer Ableton until a smash record came out, but if I had to choose, I'd def pick 'Synapse Orion' over slap ass 'over hyped' "Reason' any damn day. If I was dead and in Hell, and the devil said he'd let me go if I made him a smash fckn record in any genre; but all I could use was 'reason', I wouldn't even try. I'd just jump into the pit and get it over with. At least with Orion I'd have a prayer. For around the same price....

I still wish that propellerheads would just split off each reason rack module into a VST and sell them all seperately.... their sequencer sucks, and it's basically a legacy application.
That being said, I still love working with some of the reason machines... I like the redrum and the maelstrom a lot. I just wish that the prop shop would get with the times and not force people to use the giant legacy app just to get to them.

Pffffft.............. what ever![]()
Reason 3 sounds as good as anything else I use .
A bad workman blames his tools and many a great tune was created by mere mortals on far less gear.
I seriously doubt my results would be any better with Orion.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
If you don't like don't use it dont bitch about.
Shut-up and make some fucking music.
Seriously talk about a troll post.

My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....
word.
you can get some half okay things out of it but there is nothing I can get of reason I can t do somewhere else better.
After I got the R3 beta I sold 2.5 because I couldnt believe they still hadnt made it more adaptable with audio in/or full duplex whatever
it's just not alot of use for someone with shit hot plug-ins like Native instruments and Waves etc etc...

I understand where your coming from. But for Hip hop, Industrial, BreakBeat, House, Rock, Trance commercial, D&B etc etc it's about the samples and knowledge, and I only say this to help you out. Most so-called "producers" DON'T want to "help" anyone out EVER. (The underdogs) A person using Wavelab and Ableton with a proper collection of samples and a small vst rig....maybe Minimonsta and NI's "Guitar rig" alone should be able to take over the planet. Same goes for a Mac guy using Ableton and Peak with near the same scenario should be kicking ASS. Don't be fooled by bullshit, and dig deeper as to what can get you closer to your goals. Yea, I hammered Reason, because theres something better. Be the best you can be and investigate your shit. If music is important to you fckn take 2 days on the net DEEP and find out what in the hell producers are using; even on a budget.
Thanks, those that know me have said I need all the help I can get...JACKAL & HYDE wrote:sqook wrote:I still wish that propellerheads would just split off each reason rack module into a VST and sell them all seperately.... their sequencer sucks, and it's basically a legacy application.

btw, you are aware that the redrum is a sample-based drum machine, no? That's why I like it so much. Call me crazy, but until the impulse was improved in live5, I really disliked it as a drum machine (I do use the impulse for my drum patterns now, FWIW). Plus, I really prefer the interface of the old style step sequencers, but I can deal with the live style of midi patterns...
There's nothing inherently wrong with any of the reason machines. The problem is with narrow-minded producers who shoot them down from their ivory towers because they don't know how to pull diverse sounds out of them. This leads to the mistaken belief that reason is "limited" in what it can make, which seems to be a proliferating belief from those who rely on factory sample CD's and the like. That being said, I was also very disappointed with reason3, but it was for the lack of innovation, not the "sound" of reason which you seem to be so obsessed with.
You know, not all great producers use samples.... some of us really do like synthesis, believe it or not.A person using Wavelab and Ableton with a proper collection of samples and a small vst rig....maybe Minimonsta and NI's "Guitar rig" alone should be able to take over the planet. 1. There definitely is something wrong with the Reason sound...sure you can do stuff with it but I would NEVER use reason alone, the sound is pretty bland...
I had about 2-3 years as a Reason evangelist who used little else, but I did rewire into Cubase with waves plugs for the sound
2. Producers using all samples is becoming a thing of the past now - there are so many good sound sources not you dont need to. I hardly ever use anybody elses samples any more...

i have been working with great producers for a couple of weeks , they basicly work with anything they find in the studio they are recording .
regarding technology , they have a geek who is always on call to answer their questions .these guys have a knowledge on how to produce a chart toper , what they do is far beyond my understanding yet , but regarding technology & gears, they are useless .

I'm not so sure that would be up to you to decide, in HELL that is, the Devil may have different plans for you. You can't just tell the devil your going to go jump in a pit. You might go to jump in the pit and he say's "Oh no Lad, I've other plans for you" and chains you to a rock so that birds can eat your face for all eternity.JACKAL & HYDE wrote:If I was dead and in Hell, and the devil said he'd let me go if I made him a smash fckn record in any genre; but all I could use was 'reason', I wouldn't even try. See, HELL is not about what you want.
With that said there are people who get soem pretty decent sounds out of reason. I was never one of those people, but I owned it for a while and enjoyed it. I did end up selling it though because I found that I really was never using it.
Plus, I don't believe in HELL.

I'm still trying to find uses for it. I have Kontakt2 and Kompakt. Out of guilt I try to find useable sounds with Reason and I just almost never do. I knew this going in, but I bought it before I had a decent VI. I don't feel the need for upgrading from 2.5. I never use it and I don't use the sequencer. I just use it, when I do, as a rewire instrument for Live or DP, mainly.
All the best,

I find Reason to be an endless source of ass-kickery. I also have loads of VST's, but they're not nearly as funny. Reason is just plain easy, and has so many things you can do with the routings and what not. And it's for multiple platforms. Orion is not.

Crazy. A lot if well known house producers who get some kind of respect swear by Reason - it's all they need, and Wavelab of course
if you use your own samples it's just as good as anything else - the subtractor can get pretty dirty if you want it to.
interesting - but for the sake of argument I think Orion might get a demo -contempt prior to investigation is a bad thing, know what I mean
