Mutiple Time Signatures cripple Live's use for me completely

OK. I guess I've found the deal breaker for me. I've been flirting with this program for two years and haven't been able to get off the ground with it. In large part this is due to the fact that I was trying to make it do something that it can't do. I certainly hope the Abletons figure a way around this programming mess up (my point of view) because for the way I write and the music I create it's not useful to me.

I write music that sometimes has multiple time signatures. The way Live is structured conceptually, this is impossiblle to accomodate, unless I missing something vital - and I really hope I am. By insisting on forcing a song into ONE time signature you negate a lot of music.

Let me ask this: Is it possible at least to change where clips and scenes start? I mean is it possible that at the beginning of a song they start on one and later have them all start on beat 5 and later still change on beat 3? I could deal with this hheadache if it were possible.

So with this particular piece of music that starts in 7/4, it eventualy goes to 4/4 then back to 7/4. Because of the odd number of beats Live's "one" comes around on beat 5, and is now globally beat "5" yet clips.scenes still change one beat one. The only way around this as far as I can see is to change my global time signature to 1/4 which mmakes it useless for me to trigger clips/scenes. I was hoping that Live 5 would have addressed this, but I don't even think it's on Ableton's screen.

I hear you. I'm really frustrated by this as well. There are ways to use clips in different meters, but there's no way to change the global meter, which means playing live can be very tricky, as it's difficult to have everything land on the "one" if you're currently in a meter other than the global one. Because of this I don't try meter changes in performance. I LOVE Live, but this is a real bummer. I wish meter could be changed on a scene-to-scene basis, just like tempo.

Well then please write, call, send post cards, e-mail, DVDs, paper airplanes, write your congressman, the Consulte in Berlin, the UN, requesting them to make a change in a future update soon. PLEASE!!

I'd really like this feature too.
I Like how you can define the tempo in a scene, you should be able to
change the global time signature as well.

for now i continue working on the odd things in my previous software.
