The Use Of effects when djing in abelton

Post by Gtrance » Thu Dec 15, 2005 7:02 pm

Ok

I would love to know what setup different people have in terms of using effects when they are djing in abelton.

Apart from Eq3 and beat repeat i aint really using anything else at the moment. Few other effects I have tried seem to sound crap. i.e far to loud, distorted etc

What effects do you use? What parameters do you find work well in those effects? Any problems encountered/overcome? Any suggestions, ideas, tips would be much appreciated

Thanx

why did you put a capital O in Of?

eq3, filter, the delay with the little f button and beat repeat on the master for me

I use an eq4 for highpass/lowpass (no eq3!!!) and I have a send for delay - well, actually it's a device chain from our pack, it has a saturator, a filter and a delay unit with internal feedback.

Waldorf Dpole
Grain Delay
Ping Pong Delay
Simple Delay....

Whatever floats my boat. :D

Just an EQ3 for easily killing everything below 200 Hz or above 2.5 kHz. Don't use a controller so having sends and tings would get messy, I reckon

Autofilter and EQ3 on each deck.

Ping Pong Delay and Reverb as sends.

What parameters do you control live?

reverb decay?
pingpong feedback, freeze, delaytime?
delaytime in beats or in ms?

I'm not big on filters. I just use EQThree, and occasionally run some automated shifts in cutoff frequencies.
Bustin caps in the mix, rather be judged by twelve than carried by six.
