bcedit - bcr2000 doesnt show in device list

Post by bonsak » Mon Dec 19, 2005 7:58 pm

Hi
Im trying to use bcedit to edit parameters on my bcr2000 on os x.
I have the right Java version ("1.4.2_09") i think :-) and the bcr2000
is connected and working in live (makcie emu. mode) like a charm.
When i start bcedit and press the scan button the list only shows the two virtual devices.
The bcr2000 is connected via usb, started up in bC mode and set to u1.
MidiPipe show the communication but bcedit doesnt see the bcr.

Anybody have an idea of what im doing wrong?

Regards

the bc edit app. from behringer is pish, i cannot get it to work either on os x 10.4.3

I have just not even bothered trying to use it now as i have enabled the mackie control emulation it i works a bloody treat. I find editing it from the actual unit is not too time consuming so i just roll with that. I have used the presets that i found on this forum and from the lcxview site and edited them down to my preference...got it all how i want it...class.

as far as i can tell most people on os x cannot seem to get this app working so you are not alone, so prob not an issue with your unit or mac.

but fck it....the mackie emu mode is ridiculous for under £100.
macbook 2.16 ghz, live 6...studio with gear now gathering dust.

good news

you need to download a java app called 'plumstone'
the bcr will appear in your editor and you can u/l all your presets to the computer

bad news

you can't send anything back to the bcr...you will get a timeout message and the app will hang. There is no way around this; i spent the weekend trying to find a way to circumvent it and it's impossible

so it is still useless for practical use

it's quite simple to edit on the machine though

For some reason most sysex transferring programs don't work with my bcr. I program all my setups on the BirdyEditor for pc, and then I use midi yoke to transfer back to bcr, works great. I suspect you could do the same thing with the behringer editor.
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
