unlock key brain damage

i'm trying to install live 4.1 on a second computer that can't connect to the internet. the unlock key i am trying to enter has a hash symbol in it but uk macs don't have that character on the keyboard and it won't let me input it from the character input palette. any ideas as it's driving me mad? thanks.

scrap that - it gave me another unlock key without the hash symbol. sorry for wasting anyone's time.

FYI, alt-3 will get you a # on a Mac with a British keyboard.
