Error msg on start up of live: won't open OSX G4
Me too! It takes out the preferences of any open app
Hello. I had several applications open, and while working with Live 2.1.2, I tried to save my project and received the same preferences do not exist message. Also, I was unable to save anything from Live to my hard drive. The solution was to force quit Live. Unfortunately, little did I know but the preferences and settings for every application that was open at the time (Safari, Mail, Numerology, Finder, Dock, Ableton) disappeared.
I thought it was an anomaly (this occured Saturday Sept 13) and then it happened again last night (Sunday Sept 14). This time though, I also lost my mailboxes (or at least, Mail.app had lost its preferences so it assumed I did not have any mailboxes). Nevertheless, all data was recovered but my blood pressure increased and I became very worried. I looked at log.txt in the Ableton prefs folder and there are exceptions (though, only addresses?) around where Live lost the ability to write to my hard drive.
These two occurences are the only times this has occured. I was thinking it was because I also had the Live 3.0b2 sitting in my Apps directory so I have now deleted it (I really do not know why this would affect things, but it does seem the OS checks through all files in your App directory during boot).

My problem solved - filesystem close to full
Each time my filesystem got close to 245MB free, this issue occurs. Apparently the OS was going into some kind of protective mode.
