AUDIO DROPOUTS WHEN LOOPING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by frostyfreeze100 » Wed Dec 21, 2005 8:34 pm

Hey All,

Wondered if anybody can help shed any light on this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only found this out when I played back a mix I had recorded last nite. When I listend back there was AUDIO dropouts all over the place and the tracks were jumping all over the place. In the club it was fine, but listening back the audio recorded was nothing like what was coming out of the club spekers, if it had been I would have emptied the club PRONTO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When playing a track In LIVE 5.0.2 and recording the set I get dropouts in the audio recording. I have managed to find out what is causing the problem(I THINK !!!!) When the track is playing I will take the loop markers to a 4 or 8 bar percussion loop at the end of the track for the mix out etc etc. When I turn the LOOP button on in readiness the audio drops out in the record window, when I turn the LOOP button back off the aduio starts recording again, but if I had the LOOP button activated on for 15 secs then there will be a 15 sec dropout in the AUDIO that is recorded.

Also if I am playing a track and it is say 3min 30secs into the track I will move the LOOP markers to say a VOCAL drop at 1min 15secs. I will set the LOOP for the required length of the drop and activte the LOOP button ready for when I click the speaker play button at the start of the LOOP. The track will now be at say 4mins 10secs, but the AUDIO Recorded will start recording the LOOPED part of the track, even though the actual AUDIO coming out is whatever is playing @ 4mins 10secs !!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY CONFUSING - ANYBODY GOT ANY IDEAS.

P.S. I hope the above makes sense :-)

Hi frostyfreeze100,

if I understand you right you mean "Protocol recording" or "Arranger recording" and not an audio recoding via resample of what you played?

The issue with turning the "Loop" on/off during an arranger recording should be fixed within Live 5.0.3. So you could give the latest beta a try to check if that solves this problem for you.

Hey Alex,

Yes Arranger recording, not via any external recording devices. I will give the latest BETA a try and see if it fixes the problem. Cheers, Mat.
